William Safwat The Portrait Artist
Egypt has always had a thriving artistic community. Not only in ancient times with the undoubtedly difficult-to-rival work of art, or in our Golden Age decades ago, but also now.
William Safwat is a full-time visual artist who was born in Cairo, Egypt, in 1996 and graduated from the Faculty of Art Education at Helwan University in 2019. He is currently studying for a master’s degree.
Safwat was exhibiting his work long before that, in 2016, when he was just participating in presenting his works in Al-Youm Al-Sabea newspaper.
His works, especially portraits, are characterized by simplicity and clarity, in addition to his use of many materials that give his drawings realism and life.
Safwat participated in several group exhibitions, like the "Body Language" exhibition in 2019 and the fourth session of the Farouk Hosny Association for Arts & Culture in 2023, with an artwork, an Oil painting on canvas, entitled Hope.
Safwat believes that art is a message that gives the artist as much as he gives it and that the language of the current era differs from the language of previous artists.
