Gillan Ratl
Gilan Ratl is an Egyptian of Armenian origin, known in the artistic community by the nickname "Madame Ratl." She has been a professor of operatic singing at the Cairo Conservatory since the 1950s. Many of the voices that appeared in this period and became famous were learned on her hands.
She received a diploma in piano teaching, then travelled to Italy to obtain a doctorate in vocal pedagogy and training, and became the first Arab woman to specialize in teaching phonetics, She participated in a project to Arabize international songs with Dr. Ali Mustafa Mosharafa, and children's literature writer Kamel Kilani, called for the translation of international operatic works into Arabic, and succeeded in localising the operetta “The Widow of the Troub," which received mass fame among ordinary audiences.
Claude Ratl
The great opera singer, bass-baritone Claude Ratl, belongs to an artistic family, his mother is a voice coach, Gillan Ratl. He is also one of the pioneers of opera art in Egypt. In addition to his many talents, a whole generation of creative people in the field of operatic singing has been taught by him, and she pointed to his prowess in the field of composition, where he worked as a professor at the Faculty of Fine Arts.
He graduated from the Department of Landscape Architecture at the Film Institute, presented some of the most important world classical performances on the ancient opera stage, and also created a collection of precious paintings.
