Rwanda has a lot of wonderful, but not very famous places like museums, natural reserves, lakes, etc. In this piece, I’ll talk about 5 places that will take you away.

1-Kigali Genocide Memorial

A national genocide memorial in remembrance of more than one million victims of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi. It is a place of remembrance and learning where more than 250,000 victims of the Genocide have been laid to rest. Many people who lost loved ones in the Genocide visit to remember and grieve. There is no entrance fee and donations are gratefully accepted.

2-Kimironko Market

The market is filled with everything from used clothing to bags, fabric and custom clothing, produce, and arts and crafts. Everyone is very friendly. It can get crowded!

3-The Congo-Nile Trail

The Congo-Nile Trail is a famous passage that winds alongside the country’s most famous Lake Kivu. You can enjoy it by hiking as there are plenty of reputable retailers offering hiking packages.

4-Tea Plantations and the Pfunda Tea Factory

In the province of Gisenyi, you can take a tour during the rainy season, where the Pfunda plantation’s tea production is to amble among the surrounding crop fields and soak in some knowledge about the art of tea making, from picking and drying to cutting and shipping. Pfunda is one of the most sustainable tea companies in the region.

5-Kibeho

Since the Virgin Mary appeared on November 28, 1981, Kibeho Parish has become a popular destination for Roman Catholic pilgrimage all over the world.

Today, the site is host to pilgrims throughout the year, with two major dates dominating the calendar — Assumption Day (15th August) and 28th November (the anniversary of the Virgin Mary’s appearance).

Religious tourists and pilgrims flock from across the world, including America, Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, France, Italy, and India.
